USB Cables help

Hey guys... i bought an USB A/B cable from outpost.com to hook up my new canon printer but it seems the receptor doesnt fit the printer!

My printer has a roughly square looking (but is actually a six sided polygon) USB receptacle whereas the USB cable I bought has 2 recangular connectors...
one fits into my computer but the other doesnt fit anywhere (not my computer or the printer)

WTF?

Are there more than one type of USB connectors? help...

yes indeed! some are extenders while others are for simple connection like what you require ie a peripheral cable!

Looks like I got an A to A , male to female...

when I needed an A to B, male to male... Fu$%$#^
