Usb-C display question

Hey Everyone,

I have a USB-C port that can display video out. I'm trying to use a USB-C to mini-display port adapter, followed by a mini-display port adapter to VGA/HDMI/DVI.

Unfortunately it's not working at all. Am I just SOL?
