Usb boot support

Heres a quick question.

has anyone come across a p3 board that will allow you to boot from a usb device? more specifically a usb drive, if so how, or come across where to do it.

I know all p4,axp,a64 board do, but I a p3 system (p3 1.2 tulatin, tuv4x motherboard) and want to play with getting a bootable version of linux working on my flash drive without having to restart my main machine all the time.

I could be wrong here but I believe the booting from USB devices only became mainstream after the p3 era.
