USB and Parallel Issues

I recently built a computer with the components: MSI K9 Platinum Motherboard, AMD Athlon 64 AM2 3200+ processor, Geforce 7600 GT vid card, with Windows XP. I installed the cd that came with the motherboard that had the drivers on it. None of the USB ports are working though and when I go into the device manager there arent any listed. I am also having problems with my parallel printer not communicating too. Any help in getting either or both of these issues resolved would be much appreciated.

First...when you boot go into bios and make sure the USB controller is enabled and the your Parallel port is not disabled. Try the latest 500 series beta drivers. Are you running SP2? If not update your OS to SP2. Outside of that there are not many basic setups issues that can cause USB and Parallel ports to not function. If you try all the basic things with no luck then it is possible you might have a bad MOBO.
