Usb 3 ssd?

I believe many motherboards already have the option of booting off a USB drive. It's probably a non-standard feature, but it already exists.

Do any of the motherboards with USB *3* allow booting from a USB 3 drive?

Also, does Windows 7 prevent installation to and/or booting from USB drives?

No, you can boot and run all current versions of Windows from USB. Also, one of my SSD drives has a built in mini USB connector.

I don't know about Win7 but I do know i've tried to install oem Vista64 onto a usb hard drive and windows had a cow and said that it not allowed!

I have heard nothing different with Win7 yet, so I would guess they do not allow it. I hope i'm wrong though...

I do have a flash drive that I put vista on for Vista installs though. You would not believe the speed difference! Windows installs so much faster from a decent flash drive than any cdrom cd!
