USB 3.0 hub with gigabit ethernet detected and then disappear

in 1 of 3 of USB 3.0 ports of my HP laptop. the other two USB 3.0 are good.

The device was detected by Windows 10 but then disappeared in one second on that port.

Why is that? That particular USB 3.0 port does not exhibit this behavior with any other device.

(I'm talking about the USB 3.0 ports on HP laptop, not the ports on this device.)

Could be slight manufacturing differences. I've got a Chewi tablet who's USB-C port is recessed ever so slightly more than normal so most USB-C cables/devices don't work with it unless you trim the cable. It wouldn't be so bad if that wasn't the same port you use to charge the device as well. But that gives the same behavior you see. It detects something was plugged in but as soon as you let go, it pops out just enough to disconnect.
