I just put a new MB 865gbf with p4 2.4 and 2gb RAM with Win XP pro. I just cant seem to get USB 2 speeds. When I plug in a USB 2 device I get a massage saying that this is a USB 2 device and will run faster on a USB 2 port. I have enabled high speed in the BIOS and downloaded the latest drivers too. Any suggestions?

Are you running Windows XP SP1 or SP2? You need at least SP1 for USB 2.0 if I recall correctly.

I have the same issue with my laptop and intermittently with my desktop, all new within the last two months. SO I think it is just luck of the draw with what the media is and what the weather is like when you plug in the device. :p

Yes. I installed the chipset dfriver and I do see an enhanced usb controller in the device manager. In fact my pop up screen points to that when it says plug in the usb 2 device to one of these ports

If there's no ! mark beside it then it should be good to go...so in rare ocasstions it may be the cable/wiring...

try deleting everything from under usb in device manager then reboot.
recheck to see if that has sorted it.
