Hi,

I have a K9N Neo (NVIDIA nForce 550 Series) motherboard. When I plug in an USB 2.0 cable I get a message saying -

"There are no HI-SPEED USB host controllers installed on this computer.

Recommendation
The unknown USB device will function at reduced speed. You must add a HI-SPEED USB host controller to this computer to obtain maximum performance.

Can anyone suggest what I can do? i don't know how to do this.

Thanks,
Red

I'm assuming you are running Windows XP or higher:

Did you install all the drivers for your MB? Device Manager should show "USB Enhanced Host Controller" in the "Universal Serial Bus controllers" section.

If you can't get it to work, then buy an add-in USB 2.0 card.

1) you need at least xp sp1. Xp sp2 is better as it has the built in usb2 drivers.
if it is xp sp1 or earlier you have to install the nvidia chipset drivers for the usb2 card

2) another thing that popped into mind is you can disable the usb 2.0 function in the system bios as well, usually it is on but i have had one or 2 systems where for whatever reason it is off
