It is still $9.99.

neildoug possibly didn't wait till the 2nd to last page to enter the coupon code and apply it?

Thanks solo717!

I ordered a NIC from them a month ago, was a little concerned that there was no "shipped" notification (at least I don't remember any) but then soon enough there it was, a package in the regular USPS mail. Can't complain for the low price I paid but notification of shipped status is always nice regardless.

I recently had a bad experience with Linkcomm. I ordered an external 5 1/4" USB/Firewire enclosure from them in November. It finally arrived 3 weeks later and when I opened the box it contained a used and LEAKING HP LaserJet toner cartridge. The box was the original box for the external enclosure but it had been turned inside out and put back together. The external enclosure had been removed and replaced with a junk toner cartridge. Although, the power cord for the external enclosure was still in the box along with the receipt - both covered with toner - yuk! I called Linkcomm and some guy took my name and phone number and said he would look into it and call me right back - he never called back. I waited a couple of days and sent them a nasty email. They finally responded a week later with an email asking me to submit an RMA form. I completed and emailed their RMA form back this morning. I figure I've got another week or two to dispute my credit card transaction if they don't make this right.

Get the Dazzle 8 in 1 USB 2.0 hi-speed reader from Dell instead. $7.45 after $10 MIR.

Dazzle 8 in 1 reader

Why though? Is shipping free?
It looks bigger, I'm not even going to use the external casing on mine, just wanted the guts to mod into a case bay. Didn't that Dazzle have some kind of rare compatibility problem with certain media getting corrupted or something like that? The Dazzle isn't a bad deal though, if that's what you want...

Thanks OP, ordered one. About that Dazzle one at Dell - it doesn't support Memory Stick Pro, which is why I just ordered this one.

Got one, thanks.

BTW, Is anybody else not seeing the buttons for the checkout in Mozilla Firefox?

Looks like a price drop on the Dazzle then, but what's the total, shipped price?
Anyone?

Does anyone have problems with this card reader? When I try to read a cf card, the light keeps on flashing, and windows autoplay appears and disappears, but no data is recognized. The card works fine on my camera, so I know its not the card. I also installed the usb software that came along with it as well. I remember another card reader I had wouldn't work until I installed the drivers that came with it.

I tried mine in one system and it acted flaky- don't remember exactly what it was doing but I'd assumed some nForce2 USB incompatbility. Then I tried it on another system w/nForce2 and it worked fine. System in question was dual-boot so I booted to 2nd OS and it worked fine... think that suggests it's either Windows bugginess or other conflicting USB drivers but I was apathetic about it since that other/working system is where it was destined to be.

Can anyone with this unit comment on whether you can write to the SD card from Windows?

Another one I tried write-protect locks the SD card by sliding the tab down when inserting.

Yes you can definitely write to SD with these... in Windows or any OS that it works in. I would tend to think your other reader was either defective or an exception to the rule, it is normal to be able to write to SD with a reader.

In the SD slot, there is a little metal tab on the side that makes a contact based on the WP tab on the card. If you don't know for certain that yours is supposed to write-protect always, i'd suspect that tab is bent or missing, something similar to that unless you're only trying one SD card and the particular card has something odd about it's dimensions.

The write-protect feature is solely based on the reader though, the SD card's tab is like a floppy tab, does nothing electrical on the SD card itself. Opening it you "might" be able to bend the tab, but its pretty precision work. maybe using a needle might do it, or maybe i'm just leading you on a wild goose chase.
