I was installing linux today and since its somewhat of a long install I decided to plug my headphones into my plextor 12/10/32 SCSI(wasn't installing linux from this cdrom) which has a play feature( a button right next to the eject button) on it so I can pop in a Audio CD and listen to it without any software. And I got to wondering how many people use these things?

Most cdroms don't even have the play feature on them. I know that if you play an audio cd in windows you can plug headphones into them but I would think that most people would use their soundcard features(volume control, etc) Unless its a computer where you can't easily reach the back, the headphone cord is too short or its a computer without a soundcard.

Give me your thoughts on if and how you use your 1/8" headphone jack on your CDRom.

My speakers have a headphone jack which I almost never use either.

My Toshiba DVD does not have the jack in question, but I had to look to even tell you it had one as it was never an issue.
