What's the problem? You can choose to have your children work at a business with child labor, or not if you don't agree. You can choose to work at a business that provides a safe working environment, or one that doesn't. You can choose to work at a business that beats its workers for extra productivity, or one that doesn't. Of course all these choices will be available to all workers, competition will never force a race to the bottom. Freedom.

All that matters is that the government doesn't force any limitations.

Except that's not the reality and most people don't have those kind if options.

It is more then just that, the corporations are not playing fair ball with the markets, they learned years ago that competing is too expensive and they will all do better if they cooperate. So now they create artificial scarcity in the job market to drive the price down by doing regular rounds of layoffs and rehires. They lobbies Congress to increase the H1B vista's so that they can hire foreign workers at half the price of American workers, which then leave American workers out of a job and willing to work for less.

Over all the American corporations have become very good at manipulating the system to remove the workers ability to bargain.

Exactly and not only have they become good at manipulating the market but they have manipulated the worker to feel bad for even trying to exercise their power and people like several posters here are an example of that brainwashing.

You're missing the entire point. We're not going to compete with China. While Americans race towards the bottom Europeans are refusing to do so. We have no interest in paying people less and less money, reducing benefits, and basically going back to the late 1800's. China will simply catch up to us. They're improving their standard of living. It's the US that has it all backwards. China is doing quantity over quality and the USA is playing the same stupid game. Europe is doing quality over quantity.

Eventually the United States will figure out that their entire manufacturing base is gone, their population is half illiterate, there is no middle class, people aren't getting access to health care, their people are exploited to make the rich richer, and.... wait... this sounds awfully similar to what we criticize as 3rd world. Hmmm....

The EU is being passed by China in terms of the size of their economy this year. The United States is being passed in 2016. If you think the solution to our economic woes is to try to compete with people making $1 an hour and providing no benefits to their people you're in for a rude awakening.

Seriously who has ever thought a race towards the bottom was a good idea?

The wealthy who own a bigger and bigger share of wealth the less you have. It's short-sighted, but that's what chasing more constantly causes.
