The world does not want us to be the policeman nor our help; but when they have dug themselves into a hole; they want our construction equipment to get them out.

What a fuckin joke!! I'm so glad that the US has not bent to the will of those who think we need to more like the European countries when it comes to military preparedness.
Amen, brother. Although that seems to be working out pretty well for those European nations, just tell the USA what to bomb . . .

Libya “has not been a very big war. If [the Europeans] would run out of these munitions this early in such a small operation, you have to wonder what kind of war they were planning on fighting,” said John Pike, director of GlobalSecurity.org, a defense think tank. “Maybe they were just planning on using their air force for air shows.”

LOL

Has the President given a report to Congress lately on the status of Libya and our involvement? I'd like to know what the cost has been, among other things.

http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/africa/05/01/libya.gadhafi.son.killed/index.html?hpt=T1

NATO-led airstrikes are suspected to have killed Gadhafi's son and some of his grandchildren (not 100% confirmed). It's being tweeted now by various sources in Libya that Gadhafi's troops have had gas masks distributed among their ranks. He's known to have about 11 tons of mustard gas at his disposal. Troops and tanks are attacking Misarata (the rebel stronghold city) and parts of it are on fire.

If he's crazy enough to unleash chemical weapons, that will trigger a full scale invasion.

That's what happens when you play around with acts of war, things escalate.

Funny how a No Fly zone gets expanded continually for political purposes.

How is attaching a civilian home doing anything with respect to stopping aircraft from flying against the rebels.

NATO is targeting Libya government which is outside of the original UN/NATO directive.
Politicians in Europe and the Arab Council do not have the balls to honestly state what they want to happen and follow through with it.

I don't think so. We didn't invade Iraq when Saddam was gassing the Kurds, or when he was gassing the Iranians in the Iran\Iraq War.

As far as I'm concerned he can gas all 6.5 million people in Libya before I go running around the god damn dessert in MOPP 4.

You know what the biggest irony of all is? Our country (Britain) did a dodgy arms deal with Gadaffi a few years ago, and we sold him billions of £ worth of last generation stuff. Now that exact same stuff is being used to shoot at (unsuccessfully so far but thats not the point) our ground attack planes! What a joke!

This might be the right thing to do but FFS can we think a little further ahead next time. It's like the US arming the Taliban or any number of our other collective stupididities since the second world war.
