US soldier gives speech to Iraqi police

This took place around 2006-2007, I believe.

And the only douche bag alert GoddlessAstronomer should be issuing is for himself whenever he posts in threads. Unless that's what he intended, in which case he was very right.

Why does he bother criticizing them for not being loyal to their country? Why should they be loyal to that shit hole which has treated them like a piece of shit most of their lives? It's a pointless and ineffective pep talk that serves only to make the douche bag soldier feel like a tough guy.

Actually I'd just guess that he's just highly frustrated.

Gotta love the military bravado:

'Its because you're fvcking pussies, chicken sh!t, acting like women,...' lol

Somehow I don't think that's too effective when coming from an occupying force directed towards nationals. 😀

Actually, it's probably more effective than most realize, considering in that country, a woman was treated like a 3rd class citizen...

and watching the video, you don't see too much crowd reaction... you do see some 'reaction' from the commanding officers (im assuming the guys in blue behind him were their CO's) of the police, almost nodding in agreement.

so while some here may decry the tone and language used... i'm guessing it was quite effective.

He's obviously frustrated seeing his men killed and living in crap conditions, serving his country in a thankless job with crap pay while dealing with the political BS and cowardly Iraqi militia/leaders that don't lead by example.

I see nothing wrong with anything he said. Its not like it was his choice to invade Iraq, he is doing what needs to be done in a situation like that.

That is the kind of leader I want in a combat zone....

Interesting but he went too far -- like some commenter said there, though that type of motivation may work in the US, it isn't like that everywhere.

ie. He is right in what he is saying but saying it in the wrong way. He certainly should chew them up but then he needs to build them up. Just my opinion as I am not in the military and have no room to speak.

I give him the benefit of the doubt since he has spent more time there than all of us.

I was sitting outside an Iraqi Police station once, and watched an Iraqi officer going batshit way more than this guy was. I think he chewed a platoons ass for about 30 minutes straight. That kind of motivation is ALL those guys understood. Really, there is no mr nice guy over there. If you try to level with them, you'll just be ignored.
