Just watched the news and another american reporter is captured.

Why do they put their lives at risk when they know if they're captured, most likely they'll be beheaded ?

American media is lame anyway. A half an hour of it makes you want to surround your house in a steel cage.

Edit: All replies to this can go here.

People from the news media are seldom harmed. It is in the best interest of the "enemy" to let them just do their jobs. Occasionally, one is taken "prisoner", but is usually released unharmed.

I agree. Harming media personnel just makes the media more biased against the capturers.

Unfortunately it won't.

To answer the question - because their careers matter most to them, and reporting from a war zone gets them exposure and good resume material.
