the news said he swore at an official about the other guy taking too long or something <shrugs>

No swearing, but is a long story.

Potro served, a fan called it out. Federer thought it was out and was called out, and was ticked to find it was a fan only that called it out. He approached the judge who explained that it was a fan and there's nothing he can do about it. He said he can't take it back due to a fan.

So federer said, 'what am I supposed to do?' The judge just shook his head. Federer said, 'can I challenge it?' The judge said yes, and announced the challenge.

Challenge is displayed...turns out the ball was out! lol

So del Potro approaches the judge and complains that he was told that he was told he needed to take less time making a challenge, so why was federer able to make such a late challenge?

The judge shakes his head, looks to federer, and says he can't allow the challenge! Then why did he announce it and diplay the result??

They replayed the point, which del potro won.

Definitely a screwup by the judge to allow a challenge and then take it away.

He didn't really take the challenge away. They compromised by letting them replay the point. (as opposed to giving Potro second service which is what it should have been since the ball was out)

True, so it wasn't really a replay of a point that should have been lost, it was only giving del potro a first serve vs. a second serve if the challenge was allowed.

Federer has a lot of unforced errors and a poor 1st serve, but truth is del Potro's baseline game is smacking the sh!t out of federer and destroying his rhythm, and federer's poor play is an indirect symptom imo.

damn, whats going on with fed?

Another forehand pure winner from Del Portro. Federer has had many more errors and double faults - uncharacteristic for him.

I think McEnroe said he had more errors than winners.

wow.. this is crazy. Federer needs to stay away from his forehand. Federer doesn't seem in it right now.

Good for Del Potro. We could have an up and coming star here. 6'6", 20 years old and has a Major.

WOW! Lots of upsets this Grand Slam. Del Potro definitely deserved it. It's just too bad Federer didn't bring his game.

This is good for tennis. Another champion, another player's game to hype (deservedly).

It's tough to watch federers face during the ceremony. He's ticked, really trying to hold it back. Ticked at himself.

what a great match! fed didn't play his best, but that was some really great tennis played by delpo. imagine if delpo developed a bit of a net game. his huge forehand sets everything up and his wingspan covers just about the whole net. looking forward to watching the next generation of tennis stars.
