US loses for the second time! This time to Yugoslavia!

The days of dominance are over. Team USA got beat in their house at their own game. 🙁

unless the NBA big guns actually decide to represent their country and go play....

first george carl crashes the bucks out of the playoffs, now this.

man, i hate the way that guy coaches, yelling at everyone, taking cheapshots at his own players in the papers...well this is something he can omit from his resume...

Let's be honest, the best players weren't there. We handicapped ourselves.

I'd take Shaq, Duncan, McGrady, Kobe, Iverson, Kidd, Garnett, Webber, Bibby, Paul Pierce, Shawn Marion, and Stephon Marbury.

Notice how the best players for Yugoslavia were Vlade and Peja? And notice how both Vlade and Peja are on the Sacramento Kings?

King's all the way next season

Yep. That would probably be the best lineup. Phil Jackson coaching. RudyT as an assistant.

Personally, I never thought much of George Karl since that first round playoff debacle back in '94.

Wow, pitiful. But, I guess that's what you get when you put a team out there consisting of B and C level stars who have never won anything major, and an offense minded coach who has never won anything major. Combine that with little practice time, improving foreign teams with NBA talent, and rules the NBA players aren't used to playing under (you can pick the ball off the cylinder in FIBA rules. that throws me every time I see it.), and this was bound to happen. Hopefully some of the major stars will hop on board for Athens.

i guess Karl didn't get the memo from John Thompson. get some god*amn guys who can shoot the f*ckin ball! a team with Antonio Davis, Shawn Marion, Ben Wallace, Raef LaFrentz, and Andre Miller shouldn't win. two nights in a row the US had the worst player (sometimes two) on the floor at all times. either Wallace or Davis. these guys were not the best team. And now Karl has screwed up 3 teams--Sonics, Bucks, and this. he should have to forfeit all rights to EVER question another coach (see--Doc Rivers.)

the team they have playing is a joke. A bunch of selfish players who play current Celtic offense (just shoot it) without any hard work on defense.

The kings will be tough next year, especially if shaq doesn't take care of his toe soon.

i didn't watch any of the games, but from what i read, i heard that they couldn't really get any offense going.

yea what a sad team this is. no gold medal for them.

According to the article they get no medal at all :Q

You had to read an article to find that out?? LOL!

Not everyone has a tournament bracket in front of them that shows whether or not the US can still compete for the bronze... get a life.

Back on topic... As old and as much as deteriorated as his skills have become, I can't help but think that there is NO WAY this team lose if MJ alone was on it. His determination might actually set an example for the 12 goofs they picked to represent our country. This team has no leadership. George Karl? Reggie Miller? Both are washed up...
