US Foreign Affairs

First off Hello.

First off, ill give my point of the U.S. role in foreign affairs. This is important to me because i will join the Army (Im 15 so in about 3 yrs).

The think that i dont like is that it seems that US controls or at leasts tell other countries in the world what to do and not to do. Also placing US troops in other countries which i strongely disagree.

I find it unneccesary for the soliders of the US Army to be position in other countries when the purpose is to protect America. Also the US in foreign wars and conflicts, which is really stupid.

I would rather have the military to protect America at its borders then accross the sea. Such as moblizing the army to the borders to replace the border patrol. People may have not noticed but the borders are the easiest way to come into the country, either if it is immagration or not but we need help there.

The Canada-US border is semi-fine but its still possible to get passed, if you remember a "terrorist" got caught at the border with explosives in his car.What if he got passed? Thats why we need the military their.

Im sure that in other countries the people dont really like the American soldiers there, take Saudi Arabia. I find it useless for them being in oversea countries when they could be attacked and die in their country, do you think that the countries people would care?

Now to the wars that US foughts, of course we know about Vietnam,Korea,DesertStorm,Kosovo.

I can go on forever but ill let you guys/girls to have a chance to reply.

You know something, I'm really happy that we fight our wars overseas. Look at the War of 1812 with the British. They burned our White House, those jerks! The Civil War, worse. Imagine if we had our border as the frontline against the German panzers! It could happened if we didn't win it in Europe. Our foreign policy is fight our war over there instead of here, which I have to agree with.

Why join the army if you disagree with much of what they do?

The US has to be there cause NATO can't do jack about some situations. They are stationed around the world so there can be a quicker response time to crisis. We have to be there because peoples those people want to kill other people, and when they can't do it because of our presence, they hate the US. An all out nuclear war breaking out (even on the other side of the world) can't exactly be a good thing.

Why can't involvement and positions overseas be included in protecting America? I wouldn't want to tell WWII veterans that they weren't protecting America while they were fighting in Europe simply because they were on foreign soil.....

15? We'll cut you some slack then. You should spend the time between now and draft age to investigate more thoroughly the role our military plays in securing peace for this country, and for other countries who ask for our help and appreciate what we do.

If you want to be a conciencese objector to the peace objectives of our government and military, you have a few years to develop that opinion. I'm happy you have a curious and inquisitive nature, but to be honest, it's a good thing we don't enlist or draft children of your age. You are not mature enough for me to bet my life on your support in uniform. Maybe at 18 you may have achieved some common sense.

So we should just interfree with other countries disputes?

This mostly applies to Infantry which is not my MOS, besids the benefits as college skill traning and pay

Resond quicker to crisis that are none of our problem, We dont HAVE to at all.

How can we protect America overseas? The WWII vets were fighting becasue the mexicans were going to attack us to claim cali,tex and other southern states.

Good point i would rather have isolation.

I think that i know some stuff about todays army even for my age.

The current policy is in place because isolationism didn't work. Think about it, if the US hadn't joined up against Germany in WWII, britain and russia would have fallen and within a year or two, Hitler could have showed up with his battle-hardened army and advanced weapons (jets and rockets) and what would have happened then?


I agree that the US sometimes (well, more like often) messes around too much in other countries' affrairs, but isolationism is not the answer.
