US cutting back on $800M in aid to Pakistan

Why were we sending them $800M a year in aid in the first place? Our country faces the worst recession in the last 100 years and we're sending $800M to Pakistan?

Obama spoke at his Twitter Town Hall meeting that financial aid is an "investment" with high returns.

While shipping aid in various forms to other countries may be helpful, beneficial, and even appreciated, I don't feel this "investment" is something we can afford right now. I'd much rather see the money invested in the American people or not spent at all.

Because it is cheaper than using other means to get supplies to Afghanistan. Plus, the consequences of drone strikes and raids into Pakistan will be much more severe if we paid them no bribe money.

It costs $400 to get a gallon of fuel to Afghanistan, imagine what it would be if we could not use Pakistan's roads.

Not going to happen, both parties support the Afghan War (minus fringe elements), even Obama, an "opponent" of the Iraq war, maintains a large force in Iraq and soldiers / contractors die every week.

But i have a few questions about subjects that interest me :
Which high placed US officials are connected with the Saudis ?
Which families industries have made a lot of money the last 2 decades ?
Where these people closely related or have a strong connection ?
Besides warfare, was there another connection such as financial investments ?
Where there any laws/regulations passed or removed when it comes to benefit certain foreign important financial people ?
What was the dominant movement of the religion in Iraq ?
What is the dominant movement of religion in Saudi Arabia ?
I still think the US is sold out by a group of politicians who now are all billionaires. And there is no easy way to retreat.

The link with Pakistan ? Newspaper and new sites help but you will need to search almost 2 decades back.

There is something i do not know :
I do wonder if the Bin Ladin construction company is also at work in Iraq.
It does not mean anything directly because they operate in the entire ME. But it sure gives a strange signal. I am curious. ^_^

If it was all about Bush and his oil business then how did he get Clinton and Gore to support him as well?

If Obama spends money on Hawaii is it because he is from Hawaii or because it is the right thing to do?
 
Good for Obama. And good for the House Republicans, who passed a resolution that would force this same thing - although it's clearly dead in the Democrat Senate.

Well, if we intend to kick the Pakistani elite off the gravy train, then we'd better get out of Afghanistan in a hurry. It's the only practical route to support troops there, by land or air...

I agree totally. What got us into this mess was the attitude that a million dollars wasn't "real money". Now we think that a billion dollars isn't "real money". Well, if the average household tax rate is $9,000 then that $800,000,000 equals the full average tax paid by almost 90,000 households. Whatever the exact amounts, it matters. It matters out the ass.
