Well, that's weird. I'm an enumerator for the Census and we are not supposed to enter a home at all. We're not even supposed to go into an entryway. I don't know how many times we were told this in training. If you wanted to, you could look up your local census office and get the guy fired.
I don't think any real census person would try and do this. You have to have some huge balls to force yourself inside someone's home in Florida.
My mom is one of these census takers. My mom is just an old 61 year old woman who was laid off from work 2 years ago come this September. No one was willing to hire an old woman with only a high school education anywhere near what she used to make until she got the Census job.
Yes, she does go to neighbors homes because people lie and avoid the census people. My mom doesn't really enjoy the work because people are rude and lying sacks of shit in general. At least the people she has to deal with.
People forget that these people are just doing their job. By making their life harder for no reason, you are just being a prick. These people have no control over what the government does in this regard.
And NO they are NEVER supposed to go inside. My mom is working her ass off in 90 degree heat standing outside all day.

Oh please... first of all, a "census worker" is not a real job, it last 3 months and bitching about how difficult the work is is stupid considering that she volunteered for it. When she can do that job full time for the next 20 years, then we'll talk about it being a "real job" which, given the gubermint's lax definition of a "job", shouldn't require all that much work. ask me how I know

Yeah! The forms suck. I suggest we return to the Biblical procedure and have everyone return to their city of birth to be counted. Then, after the census has ended and, you don't have a 'tax stamp,' you're no longer a citizen and unable to work or own property.
Actually, having that would be a godsend because that way we wouldn't have to pay out money in social services to "non citizens"..

Yeah, damn her for spending 2 years looking for more substantial work and, in a market that discriminates against even well-qualified age, failed to find it. Damn her for taking whatever work she can get to pay her bills! She clearly deserves to be demeaned and insulted for doing what she's being paid to do, which happens to be in the best interest of the public too. We obviously should have no sympathy or respect for a 60 year old woman on her feet all day in the heat, making a living and maintaining her own independence in the face of obstacles. Too bad she doesn't just go on welfare, or better yet, just off herself.

I think some of you missed the point of my post. They were not asking about me, the folks in my house, etc. They were demanding information about my neighbors. I'm suppose to do their job? I don't think so.
So, I could break out the SIG, go over to the neighbors' houses and hold them up to collect information on the auspices that another annoying taker will expect me to provide it to them.

One of the people on my street didn't answer the census and yelled at the worker (some old crazy lady) so I gave them all of her information because it is nutty not to answer the census.
She thanked me kindly and left.
3 months? Actually my mom spent 3 months on the original go around doing all the GPS tagging last year. Then when the job came around again to do the actual door to door stuff, she took it.
So she has managed to work for about 6 months.
And tell me, at 60 years old, working out in 90+ degree weather in 100% humidity isn't hard work. Are there harder jobs? Sure.
But guess what? My mom could have sat on unemployment and taken home just about the same amount of money.

You're an asshole. It's not easy to collect census data on every person in this country and you're not making it any easier. If you don't feel like helping, then tell them you don't want to help, but don't come here and start complaining about these people trying to do their jobs.

Well when the folks in DC use it as toilet paper, what do you expect the common folks to do.
The only people that are benefiting from the census are low life deadbeats who suck on the government tit. I couldn't care less if the government said my state had only 1 person because that would mean less money for the already over bloated gubermint of commiefornia. Our governments are way too spend happy and consequently are looking for any reason to raise taxes and generate more revenue.
