I suspect cultural differences can be a barrier, too. The reason families in America are broken more today than ever before is because Crack and Meth have destroyed families like no previous generations. Until they stop treating crack like its 50x worse than coke and allow sudafed-equivalents over the counter without prescription these travesties will continue.

Its no secret that these drugs enhance one's sex drive and that drug addicted women freely give up unprotected sex in order to obtain them. Serious std's are running rampant in some circles, AIDS being just one of many. In this part of the country it is herpes. 1 in 4 people under the age of 25 have herpes of one form or another in the Midwest.

Maybe it is class instead of race. Maybe it is genetics. Maybe its some combination. All I know is that I'm sick of people making generalizations without addressing the root causes, which is most of what I've heard in this thread.

Another level would be the fact that people who don't have Aids are generally unaware they are having sex with someone who does have Aids. Also, the incarceration rate of black males is much higher than for the general population (you DO know, don't you, that prisons - with their widespread consensual and non-consensual homosexual activity and widespread drug use - are a prime breeding ground for HIV?). When you combine those two factors, the rate of HIV in the black population is much higher than in the general population. Thus, sex in the black population is a much riskier proposition than in the white population, and increases the black HIV rate even more as compared with the white population.

So explain again why black students receiving the same sex ed would have similar rates of HIV?
