URL Completion

Suddenly, the completion shortcut ain't working anymore... ya know when the root of an address such as "anandtech" is typed into IE's address bar followed by CTRL + ENTER, instead of adding http:// and .com 'fore and aft it is instead prompting a Google search. Naturally, the Google toolbar is installed but I do not recall changing anything related recently. I have tried toggling the Google Toolbar Options - Browsing tab - Navigation - Browse By Name check-box but to no avail. Either way the shorcut does not work and in any case when enabled it should go directly to the address without visibily searching (although obviously going via Google to the most likely site) but it does not even do that, but rather runs a Google search with results for that word. What would be causing this and how do I get my belov'd shortcut to return (and the functionality of the Browse By Name option)?

Any reason why you wouldn't consider an alternative? I don't even have to hit ctrl+enter, it just does it.
In the days when firefox was on its rapid rise, people screamed bloody murder about all the fanboyism that was going on and how annoying it was (and rightly so). I've gotta say this isn't much better. Why can't you just let him use what he wants to use? You don't even know he has an option.

He's asking for help on a simple problem and all you do is suggest that he's using the wrong product. If he's got his reasons for sticking with IE so far, I doubt this little hiccup counts as a reason to switch to Opera. At least not without having people from the forums actually try to help him.

I will always suggest a better way of doing things. I see nothing wrong with it.

I uninstalled and re-installed Google Toolbar and toggled/re-applied the IE search option (trying both "do not search from address bar" and "just go to the most likely site"). The CTRL + ENTER option has not returned. No biggie there however it is nice to be able to go directly to ibm by typing in ibm without going via google. The real ah heck is that occasionally I see the auto msn search flash in the message bar at the bottom of the browser (where it says "opening page..."), revealing that the fight for priority continues. Maybe this will be sorted out by IE7 or the Google Toolbar which is now in beta. Maybe I should try the latter now. Queer that the problem just recently began occuring though.
