Ok, I assume I don't need a 5-speaker setup since I can't put any satellites behind/on the side of me (if I'm wrong stop reading here and tell me I'm wrong; I'm a n00b when it comes to speakers). Here are the choices:

Harman/Kardon HK695
Altec Lansing ATP3
S4 MidiLand 3050M <-- what's the difference between these
S4 MidiLand 6040M <-- two aside from the extra piece?

Please tell me what's best and why. It needs to be under $100.
I kinda need to know ASAP else I might not be able to get any of these. Thanks in advance!

What do you mean? I just want something that sounds really nice. Don't care about how LOUD it can be. I'll be watching DVDs on a 21" CRT I have to go along with it, but I won't be sitting too far off and won't crank it up all the way either. Decent bass and high quality sound is all I really need, nothing extreme. So whatcha think?

I don't quite understand why you don't think you can use a 4.1/5.1 setup... I have Logitech Z540's, $70, and they sound great.

Ive never heard any of the above setups, I can't comment on them.

I think I'll go for the Harman/Kardon speakers. They look really nice and should be ok. I read the MidiLand reviews and they say it's a cheap power solution but sacrifices quality, something I don't want. Later on I'll get a digital speaker setup anyway, but for now I think these will do. Thanks. For those who are about to recommend other speakers not mentioned in my list, well, that's not an option for reasons I won't explain. I was looking for the best from what's available. I think I've found what I'm looking for.
