Hello, I have just come into IE and the little drop down menu for the address bar only has 4 URLS in it. Now I know this be synonymous with a clear history or whatever it is, but I checked the 'Run' drop down menu and all the previously visited locations I have gone to on my HD are there, please explain, I need to know so that I can tell anothe ruser not to look at 'that'.

Just thought, could it be something to do with a Scandisk and Defrag I have just run?

the run box is not connected to IE's typedurls history

xsetup i believe can erase the run history, or snooping in the registry

or just start running a bunch of strange stuff from the run box to clear out the previous stuff

perv;)

lol hence the reason when going to porn sites you go to yahoo.com or google.com first then type in theaddy.com and then go. Still goes in your hist but not your drop down box ...

Can someone explain to me then why once I only had 4 messages in my Inbox when there were previously ~100. Do you think it coudl be something to do with bad sectors?

I doubt that they would have deleted all but 4 messages. I have an updated NAV running all the time. Yes, my brote rhas access, but he wouldnt knwo how to delete just teh address bar history on its own without just clearing history, and the history is still there intact.

OS? Another remote possiblity that i can think of is that you run out of disk space for your messages..and after a system or OE crash, somehow your system might have deleted "bad" files that where taking up space or/and you had some bad clusters. But what kind of OS do you have?

Check the Maintenance settings in OE. There is a trobleshooting logfile (that must be enabled)in OE, check if you have one and see what it says.

<< No no recent crashes, but my bro did run the computer for a few minutes without a firewall running. >>

Has OE crash for you when you had all the messages there and when did you discover that your messages was missing?

I dont think a crash would delete any messages but just checking all possibilitys so to speak.

Make sure that you are not infected by any trojans, download latest virus updates. Once your system is affected it can be tough to detect the Trojan though.
