Double check everything. Remove all but your vid card and drives and see if the thing starts. You should at least see the vid card bios screen and the POST from bios. If not, then something is shorted to the case. If that's the problem, then remove the mobo and re-install it being careful not to let any traces (little wires printed on the mobo) come in contact with the mounting screws. There could be so many different thing that cause this. Try the above and get back to the thread.

perhaps there is ashort somewhere. maybe your mobo is touching the case or something. try removing some optional components and see if that helps. if not, remove he mobo and try outside of the case.

allright i'll try removing the mobo from the case. so i gather from what you 2 have said that if it is shorted out right now that its not ruined perminantly?

hopefully not. Your motherboard probably didny turn on so that it could protect itself from a short occuring. Howver, sh!t happens. You're just going to have to try it out.

ok you guys were right about the motherboard. once i tried to run it out of the case it ran fine. ok so next i plugged in all the drives and tried to start it up. now the epox mobo is giving me boot error 75. and also it didnt detect any ide devices, not even the floppy drive. of course, wouldnt you know it, i look up error 75 in the manual and sure enough its "need to insall ide devices" or something like that. im at the end of my rope here. if anyone can offer any help, i would greatly appreciate it. the hard drive im using is a 80gig western digital. something that i find strange is that its very loud. the 40 gig i have in my rig is silent as can be so i dont know what this means.

Super! Seems the WD hard drive was causing the short. I have not had much luck with WD drives and I will not buy anymore for myself or customers. They are all (the different brands) around the same price, but IBM seems to give the least problems. Let us know how everything goes once you have it all together!
