I went to www.themexp.org last night on my new computer and downloaded a new XP Boot Screen along with a new Login Screen. Well, I followed the instructions and booted into Safe Mode and once in Safe Mode I replaced the old boot screen file along with the old log in screen file with the new ones (Yes, I backed both and have the backups in a folder). Well, I then restarted my machine and instead of a boot screen appearing and Loading Windows XP, nothing happens. It just sits there, yes I waited a while for it to try and load. I restarted the computer with the restart button (couldn't alt+cntrl+del) and it comes up saying WinXP didn't load. So, I say to my self "oh well the boot screen doesn't work, I'll just put my backup back in and have the original loaded" well.. I try and get into Safe Mode, and it freezes too! So I say to myself again "ok, screw it.. lets just go back to the newest working configuration for Windows that it had" well.. that didn't work either. So, I put in the WinXP Install CD (to go into the repair mode and into DOS) and get into DOS and try using the command "Copy C:\Tim\Backup\logonuin.exe C:\Windows\System32" (I know that's not the file name and that would be for the logon, but I can't remember the actual file name) and it says "Access Denied" I can't even change directories in DOS to go into my File.
Could I possibly just delete the current "logonuin" (for logon) and then the boot file and pray that it will reload it on there with the original?
