More news on my motherboard: the capacitors were all blown, same with in the Enermax 350W PSU. They said that it is likely that all of the components truly are dead. I'm probably going to go for a 120Gb Western Digital and a 40Gb Western Digital (for linux...possibly only 2mb cache as well). The processor/mobo/memory I get largely depends on what amount the insurance company gives.

what about 4 x WD Raptors on Raid 0?:D
should provide enough space at great speeds

No no no. I don't *NEED* 4x Raptors in a RAID 0 array (especially RAID 0) and I have everything decided. I am using the Antec SLK3700AMB case someone suggested to me, and a Pentium 4 2.6C with an ASUS P4P800 (not Deluxe...I saw no reason for the Deluxe) and I am holding it as a wishlist until I figure out how much the insurance is giving us for the computers and what-not. I might bump the videocard up to a Radeon 9800 Pro instead of a 9700 Pro depending on the money situation, but everything (including a Pioneer DVDROM and 52x Lite-On CDRW) totals $1230 after shipping. I do a lot with linux, so i'm also getting a 40Gb 2mb cache Western Digital drive for that, and a 120Gb WD SE drive for Windows XP Pro. I have to check on ATI's support of linux to see if its a problem. I always enjoyed nVidia's support, and I want a DirectX-9 card but I don't want to buy a GeForceFX and lose a PCI slot.

Does anyone know what temps the 2.6C will read on a case with a 120mm fan in the rear and a 120mm fan in the front and using the stock intel HSF with it and should I buy an SLK-900U + 80mm ThermalTake SmartFan instead?
