I'm attempting to put together an HP Vectra VLi8 "SF"
(small factor) system for my cousin. I told him I'd have
it together for him for tomorrow. No problem...
EXCEPT that it turns out that the 2nd IDE connector
on the motherboard (actually, on a riser) is a 50 pin
slim IDE connection. I thought it'd be a 44 pin
"notebook" style IDE connector because the computer uses
a notebook slimline CD-ROM (which has a 44 pin IDE
connector). But it's not. It's 50 pin... I have a
44 pin to 44 pin IDE connector...Ugh!
Is anyone familiar with a 50 pin IDE connection (yes,
it's IDE NOT SCSI)? Can, perhaps, pins 45-50 be ignored
in making the connection or ... ????
Any IMMEDIATE help I can get would be greatly appreciated
since my cousin's gonna be really disappointed if I don't
bring this to him tomorrow.
Thanks,
Kwad
