you dont need to upgrade your cpu /ram it should be fine in the biostar mobo..

if you intend getting the biostar mobo just run it bare bones at first..aslo the mobo stand off`s may have to be changed..to suit the new mobo...watch this before you put it in the case..

AWESOME! I know it is tedious, but it pays to look at EVERYTHING! The good thing about RAM is that most has a lifetime warranty.
 
You guys are awesome! I ended up installing the video card myself with no problem, and I didn't mind the whole troubleshoot because I it gave me a chance to clean my PC at the same time and help with cable through the case right. I have two errors though, everything works fine, but I wanna know how to fix these problems.

Device Manager detecting it as a 7970 is fine, I know it's a rebadge. But I would think installing the drivers would've fixed it.
I uninstalled the old drivers for my 6670, but Windows 7 was still updating a min later with generic drivers. The same thing happened when I tried installing my 280x drivers. I'm using 14.4. Atleast I think I am. I also can't open CCC.

Edit: OK, I got GPUz to work for me now, and it seems I am running on 12.10... how do I prevent Windows 7 from installing these crap drivers? lol

I would leave CCC installed, uninstall the driver in device manager, then refresh or reboot and see if it loads the AMD driver.
