ok so i returned home from work today to find out that the electrician had been and turned off the electricity whilst my pc was on. When i tried turning the pc on all the fans start up and everything seems fine except there is no picture on my screen.

I have tried switching the monitor and have now opened up my pc. The green light is on on the motherboard and the lan port is on, the memory seems to be oke and ive tried puttin older memory in as well. The graphics card fan is whirring but other than that i dont know if its ok. I have tried removing all the components and tried resetting the cmos but still nothing. Also there is no post beeps.

Because this was my first system with pci express, unfortunately i dont have any other graphics cards, motherboards or cpus i can test to find for certain what has gone wrong.

Any suggestions before i have to take it to a repair shop?

there are many different voltages in a psu, just because 12v is running doesnt mean the other voltaged are. the psu is the most likely culprit.

Turning off the psu while comp on shouldn't be a problem. It's just like losing electricity suddenly. Try resetting the CMOS and see what happens.

He already tried that. Read the OP.

Do you have an old PCI video card you can try?

Try unplugging the power supply from the motherboard and then plugging it back in? (Probably won't help but hey....)

I would also try another power supply, but I have several laying around so it's easy for me to say.

The next step for me would then be to cuss loudly and smack the case as hard as I could.

Good luck.

i could try another power supply but unfortunately only got agp gfx cards lieing around.

i cant even get to the bios screen mate, system just powers up but nothing appears on the display.
