Urgent Help Needed! -- Maybe simple fix

I installed the new Windows Installer 2.0 from the MS Office Update site a few days ago. Since then, IE 6 cannot spawn any extra windows (like popups -- which sometimes is a good thing). I can't even do a Find (CTRL+F) or Print (CTRL+P)! 🙁 Then later I noticed Norton Virus LiveUpdate does not work any more, and the scanner software PaperPort cannot work with the TWAIN interface. The TWAIN button will show up for a second then disappeared.

According to Windows Installer 2.0 download page, it is not uninstallable! :disgust: I don't want to reinstall Win2K from scratch!

Any help is greatly appreciated! I searched the Usenet and MS Knownledge base but didn't find any information at all.

May try reinstalling the programs that do not work after installing Windows Installer.

I uninstalled PaperPort and Visioneer driver and reinstalled both without any improvement. I haven't tried uninstalling IE since I don't want to lose the settings (e.g., cookie blocking sites).

I think some registry settings were messed up by the Windows Installer 2.0 upgrade but I don't know what to look for.
