*URGENT* Does PC100 work in place of PC66

I have a 3 year old IBM 233 amd K6 at 233, dont laugh, and I dont know what kind of ram it has becuz im putting in a new cpu (450) and ram, but i dont know what kind to buy. It says right on it that its a DIMM but on the little mem chips it says edo in the part number. Is this EDO ram, PC 66, or PC 100??? Will the K6 2 fit in the slot where the K6 is (both are socket 7)???? If it is PC66 which i really think it is, will PC100 work????? Please help

PC66 and PC100 are ratings on SDRAM to show up to what speed the ram can run. SDRAM DIMM's canot be used to replace EDO SIMM's.

Obviously you've never heard of a EDO Dimm.
They exist, although kinda rare.

pc66 can always be replaced with pc100, or pc133
but not vice versa (usually not anyways)

No, and you can mix up speeds with no trouble at all. I have 66,100,133 all in my system now.

Possiblt it has to do with the motherboard and what it can detect. I've several experiences where PC66 would work and PC100 would not.

It might just have been EDO ram.
AFAIK, all Dimm's run @ 3.3v (VIO voltage), except the odd server module, stuff like that...

First let me say that some dimms run at 5v. I havent seen any but I have read about em. Secon some motherboards do not like pc100 dimms. My friends supermicro LX board will not work with pc100 ram only pc66.

I can't seem to run a 64mb stick of pc100 in the LX board that is in the Gateway I'm upgrading. It will boot with it in but it doesn't recognize anything over the original 64mb of PC66.
