URGENT CPU HEATSINK HELP!!

Ok, here is how its gonna go down.

My friend has an Athlon XP 2400+ stock heatsink. Remember the Athlon XP 2400 runs at 2ghz. He is going to be putting an Athlon XP 3000+ in a system using the same heatsink. The Athlon XP 3000+ runs at 2.16Ghz, so it is not clocked too much higher.

Now the question. Will it work?
 
It should work, but stock coolers are very basic to begin with. For a simple $20, he could get something much better.
 
Ok thanks. He will probably eventually get a better cooler, but we needed something to work for a while till he could get one.
