Hi all,

I have an ECS K7VTA3 system board (1.0c BIOS). The board has an option to type a password on the keyboard before it powers on. I set a password to do this (it is on a different screen than admin/user password).

Now when I try to turn the system on by typing the password, as well as pressing the actual power button on the case, the system does not power on. Normally (of course) the system powered on when I pressed the button on the case - it also powered on when I had it set to "press any key on keyboard" to power on. Immediatly after I turned the system off to try the password on key board power on, however, this occured and I can not turn on the computer.

I did not loose the password, and I am sure I am typing it on the keyboard correctly. (it is a password I use frequently) Unfortunately it is not working.

All I am doing is typing the password on the keyboard. Is this the correct thing for me to do, or am I supposed to do more? If so the manual does not specify what to do. (I tried pressing enter after I typed it as well)

Also, I have tried changing the jumper to clear CMOS with no result.

Please don't tell me I ruined the board. ;x

I would very much appreciate any help someone can give me!

Thank you very much!

Mike

Hi again,

Well still no luck. I have tried the clear CMOS jumper now about 100 times and the system *still* will not power on. I have tried to unplug and plug it in several times as well. I've tried cutting power/leaving the clear jumper set for several minutes as well. The only thing I did was change this darn power on with password typed setting in the BIOS and now I am screwed. :( I am sure I am typing the password right but it just won't power on, even the button doesn't work. I am sure there is power because the light on the keyboard is on (as usual) and I did not make *any* hardware changes at all before this happened.... the system was working fine up til when I changed the BIOS setting for power on with typed password.

I am thinking this... the board also has a jumper to change the BIOS voltage from 3.3 volts to 5 volts. Should I change this, or would I risk even more dmage? ;x

Thanks again

Mike
