My parents are yelling at each other like maniacs about utterly nonsensical topics. Should I interject myself to stop the madness?

When my parents argued, I would leave the house. It worked really well too because they would see me on my way out and be like "Where the fvck are you going?" Argument ended after that.

You could try the guilt trip. Mom, Dad, it makes me feel bad when you fight

Whatever you do, don't get involved or take a side but you probably know that already. I'm sorry to hear of your problem, that can tear your heart out when two people you love are fighting.

as I said before, if it's abusive, try to stop it. if it's just arguing, you could tell them that they're upsetting you, but you don't need to do that now. tell them later.

I got used to that years ago, however the shouting was just my father and myself.

They rarely argue. This is very unusual.

I gotta move out. :)

No.

The only time I intervened was when it was a fight between a parent & a sibling.

If my parents were at it, I let them settle it themselves.

My mom tends to lose it when she's upset, she does crazy stuff - stuff that's VERY unlike her. She cusses, screams, & has on occasion attacked my dad.

It's best just to avoid them.

listen to them and wait for the argument to end. Both of them are probably wrong in some way. You can talk to them both separately afterwards and tell them both what's right -- support their overall view, but point out their fallacies.

Are you home from college for the summer? I got the impression you were away at school during the year. Try just walking in and sitting down wherever they're fighting and just watching, like you're watching TV. See how long it takes them to notice you're staring at them, and how long it takes them to care.

That sounds like good advice. Seriously.
