So what? There was a time not that long ago when a 14yo was getting married. In fact, it still happens in other parts of the world.
There was a time when slavery was ok in the US and still goes on around the world, should we be ok if someone does that here?
The old " it was done before and still happens in..." is a copout.
I'll admit I had sex when I was 15, but I was with her until the end of HS. I doubt many kids fit that standard today. And the whole abstinence thing works about as well as telling kids not to smoke, it only makes them want to try it even more. But as long as right-wing christians and republicans rule it will only stay the same.
Let me rephrase what I meant:
If this has been happening in America (and all over the world) since the beginning of recorded history and the world hasn't fallen apart (in fact, living conditions have greatly improved) then why make such a big fuss about it now?
Im not to sure how right wing christians and republicans are at fault for this one. Hell I'd think they'd be LESS likely to be blamed. Christians (generally) are against pre marital sex. Republicans are typically conservative, meaning they don't go out bumping and grinding all night, exploring their sexuality. But when you break it all down, humans are humans. Ive got a penis and I intend to use it. What needs to be done is making sure the kids are smart enough to use protection and not sleep around with a ton of people.
Again, how the fvck is this Christians/Republicans fault?
Dude where have you been? You can't blame this on one sect or the other, I agree with you on that but, in my experience, it always seemed the girls raised in any strict religious environment were the freakiest. The whole "I'm saving myself for marriage" lasted about as long as it took for them to get out of sight of church!
Really? In my experience my friends that were raised in an environment that did not have strong family ties (or religious ties) the children were some of the freakiest. As oppose to the children who were raised in families that were around their children a lot and had strong religious ties. Granted, there is always an exception to the rule.
