Might be time to build. I've said for years I'll build a new system when a decent 4k display and video card to power it is under $500 combined.

Kinda depends on what kind of games you play, of course, but right now you aren't going to find much of a video card alone under $500 that will work with 4K all that well, without a lot of compromises, anyway. I think the absolute lowest tiers right now would be 1070/1070 ti/Vega 56, and those would still be some compromises.

I'm guessing this display maxes @ 30hz?

Funny you quoted this. I wanted to go new build w/4K back then but job changes and stuff made me re-evaluate my needs. Im still in the wanting 4K camp but reality is my current machine (Q9650) still meets my needs.
I do not need 60 FPS, I do not need ultra settings.
I have been budgeting for a new build because my old workhorse is starting to have boot problems and freezes. Likely due to my 9 year old power supply.

We’ll back on point, when I posted in this thread I fully intended on doing it until I realized mining made video card prices insane.
