UPS vs USPS...

I need to ship something in-state. From Western Michigan to the Detroit area. That used to be next day with UPS and USPS. Both seem to take much longer now.

Any idea on which would be the best bet?
 
USPS has been dependable for me so I pick USPS. It's usually cheaper than UPS as well.
 
is cost a factor? UPS for me is more expensive, I've sent stuff UPS ground about 280 miles from Boston to upstate NY and it was overnight while USPS was 3 days

I don't want to pay extra for overnight or 2 day service. I know that the UPS Store used to have a map showing how fast a package would get from point A to B using standard ground. I wonder if they still have that?

I meant cost in terms of USPS vs. UPS. UPS Ground for a 18x12x12" box weighing about 5 pounds cost me 15$. The UPS store estimated 3 days, but it arrived the next morning. I had shipped it out at 330PM.

ok i gotta say this week UPS is really bad. i have about 4 packages that are doing nothing. i order a lot of things so am pretty familiar with how fast stuff comes from UPS. this is not a good week.
