I had 3 packages coming from FEDEX, 2 from UPS.
FedEx 2 day, UPS 2 Day.
2 packages for FedEx 2 day arrived in 2 business days.
1 package from FedEx arrived in 1 business day (even though asked for 2 day).

UPS, 3 business days, package was in city in 2 business days. Package not arrived at house as of yet (6 PM). 4 business days for 2 day shipping? UPS is always like this, I don't know if it's just where I live - FedEx is mad quick and if a package is to be delivered on a day - it will arrive at my house around 9-10AM, UPS will take until 8 PM to deliver it.

Dammit.:disgust:

You get what you pay for...

Think of it this way - the US mail would take about 10 days to get there and would end up stuffed in your mailbox...

Well the God-AWFUL color of UPS trucks should be a big enough indication to you as to not bother with them. Fedex trucks look cool. Fedex sounds cool. UPS sounds too much like USPS (they try to trick you).

Anyway go with Fedex from now on.

I just bought some memory from Crucial, using their UPS Second Day free shipping thing, and this is a snippet of my tracking info for it:

Sep 6, 2001 2:08 P.M. LAS VEGAS NORTH, NV, US ARRIVAL SCAN
3:56 A.M. SALT LAKE CITY, UT, US DEPARTURE SCAN
1:14 A.M. SALT LAKE CITY, UT, US LOCATION SCAN
Sep 5, 2001 11:50 P.M. SALT LAKE CITY, UT, US UNLOAD SCAN
9:41 P.M. SALT LAKE CITY, UT, US ARRIVAL SCAN
9:21 P.M. SALT LAKE CITY, UT, US DEPARTURE SCAN
7:40 P.M. SALT LAKE CITY, UT, US ARRIVAL SCAN
7:08 P.M. US PICKUP MANIFEST RECEIVED
6:34 P.M. BOISE, ID, US DEPARTURE SCAN
5:23 P.M. BOISE AIR SORT, ID, US ORIGIN SCAN

Looks like they took my package on a nice trip through Salt Lake City. They also have another package of mine that was shipped UPS ground, was scheduled for delievery on the 4th, then rescheduled for the 6th, now the 7th. It's not even in the state yet. It was shipped on the 28th. Whee.

Today.. I saw a UPS guy.. that was taking out the packages..

he basically dropped it from the truck... to the ground.. ( concrete. )

at that point.. I was thinking " That's pretty F'd Up" ... that could have been my package..

also recently.. I had a run-in with the FEDEX... I was waiting for a 141lb delivery to be made ( 30 printers )

and the day it was suppose to come .. I get a slim fedex package.. but not the 141lb package..

I was thinking WTF? ?

I checked the website.. it says that I refused the package... when I don't recall refusing any packages..

I Prefer USPS over all of them.. since they dont BS on packages.. you dont need to worry about weekends.. and not being able to be home for the delivery.. ( they usually leave it at the door.. or someplace that's not too obvious for the thieves..)

Also.. You can always pick up the package the same day.. if you missed the delivery guy if it was an insured or sig confirm package...

Never had problems with FedEx. Have had lots of problems with UPS, but only their Ground service. What I don't get about both services is that if a package arrives in my town a day early, they'll hold it for the next day rather than deliver it.

FedEx is the way to go but they are very expensive ... UPS is cheap. Simple.

UPS had my package sitting at my local hub for 2 days. I called and they couldn't figure out why it was just sitting there. It was supposed to be second day but it took 5 days to get here!

U.P.S. = Under Paid Slaves. Maybe that's why?

I think they are all the same. It just the matters how they show it to the customer. UPS is more to "who cares if you see me breaking your packages" mean while FedEX is more "we try to do perfectly in front of our customer but if you don't see us then we can do whatever we want".

Amazon recently shipped a book from Kentucky (their office I guess) to Alabama via UPS ground. It took a day.

Mallow, I had just the opposite experience. :)

UPS has delivered everything on the day it was due while FedEx had the package in town (and on the damn van) the day it was due but did not deliver it until the next day.

As to the dropping of the packages both UPS and Fedex do that. Give the Fedex woosies a package weighing 50+ pounds and enjoy the carnage. Shipping sucks. UPS and Fedex can suck me. Out.

are you guys refering to fedex express or ground. they are totaly differnet services?
fedex express uses salaried employess in company owned trucks
fedex ground (formally RPS) uses independent contractors that own their own trucks and get paid by the piece i believe.

FedEx wins all the way. UPS has consistantly mangled my packages and not cared one bit about it. Fedex, on the other hand, usually comes through on time, intact, and friendly. The one time fedex damaged a package of mine (a $1000 laserdisc player) I called them up, got a very helpful representative, and they overnighted me a check the next day for the full amount I insured it for. (stupid me, I insured it for $600 since it was used... )

FedEx, only becuz of the cool colors.

BTW, didn't know RPS was FedEx Ground. I did know that FedEx outsources the work for ground, though.

I don't think they outsource it any longer, I think Fedex now owns RPS, hence the name change. As to Fedex both their air but especially their ground service blow sheep nuts. Always ship at your own risk. And please note, these bastards self insure so after they f your package good luck trying to get them to pay up.

RPS == FedEx Ground. Same difference. :D

At any rate, I've had nothing but pleasant experiences with FedEx. UPS is another story. I don't know how many packages I've had arrive which were severely damaged in transit. If it weren't for extreme packing material inside the boxes, it would have been destroyed. OTOH, I've yet to receive a FedEx box which had even a dent in it. They always arrive in mint condition and I've never had a damaged article. I think it's a case of you get what you pay for. I'll gladly spend the extra for FedEx delivery.
