So I got "something" from UPS from a person on eBay
It was damaged and I've requested to get it fixed because it was their fault

I filed a request for the default apparently $100.00 instead of what I thought of as $350.00 insurance that comes with every UPS package
It's been almost 2 months and I've been calling around 1 time a week. They first told me that they would get it to me soon. Now they're telling me that I have to wait 4-6 months for UPS to answer to a damage claim. 2 - 4 months left

I think that UPS' strategy is that they want people to give up with asking for money back for UPS' crappy shipping.

USPS > UPS

Then you're REALLY gonna hate this:

"Limitations of Liability
Each UPS domestic package or international shipment is automatically protected by UPS against loss or damage up to a value of $100.00 (U.S.). Unless a greater value is recorded in the declared value field of the UPS source document or the UPS shipping system used, the shipper agrees that the released value of each domestic package or international shipment is no greater than $100.00(U.S.), which is a reasonable value under the circumstances surrounding the transportation, and that UPS shall not be liable for more than $100.00 for each domestic package or international shipment.
UPS?s maximum liability per domestic package or international shipment, shall not exceed the lesser of: (1) $100.00 (U.S.), (2) the lesser of the purchase price paid by the consignee (where the property involved has been sold to the consignee), the actual cost, or the replacement cost of the property at the time and place of loss or damage, or (3) the cost of repair of damaged property. If additional protection is desired, the shipper may declare a value in excess of $100.00 (U.S.) by
showing a value in excess of $100.00 (U.S.) in the declared value field of the UPS source document or the UPS shipping system used. An additional charge as set forth in the UPS Rates in effect at the time of shipping will be assessed. UPS does not offer shippers´ cargo insurance.
Shippers desiring cargo insurance or all risk insurance should purchase such insurance from third parties. Shippers cannot declare a value for UPS Prepaid Letters.

Oh well 100 dollars is fine since the damage isn't visible while I'm using the item
I can just pocket the $100.00 in cash

Regardless, how does UPS stay in business?

I dunno. I've bought and sold thousands of $$$ worth of aquarium supplies, with the ONLY package damaged was by Fed-Ex. I HAVE received a few packages that looked like they played football or soccer with them, but fortunately, MOST people know to pack stuff to withstand that kind of treatment. Overall, IMO, UPS does a great job, with only a few mishaps along the way.

I heard that UPS throws their boxes around (even with fragile on the box like mine did)
My box had hard styrofoam surrounding the box as well as padding within the box/styrofoam

Oh well
I still believe that UPS is the worst now
Thanks for your look on it though BoomerD

I worked in the N.C. hub at Raleigh for a day... they do both careful placement and throwing crap around, it just depends on who's a slacker and how backed up they are.

Just a day? Musta really sucked ass to work there. Or a temp thing.

I get a lot of packages and the most f'ed up ones are from UPS. I get better results from the USPS.

It was a clerk position through a temp agency. I'm partucarly sensitive to noise, and it was very very loud in the processing center, so I had to quit the same day.

Nah, I'll take UPS/ USPS anyday...MUCH better tracking options, MUCH better delivery record, FAR fewer things stolen from USP than USPS...

It's always been $100. Where did you get the idea that it is $350?

I prefer FedEx over UPS or USPS for air delivery, but UPS Ground is so much better than FedEx ground.

The UPS guy made a joke the other day at work "UPS stands for Use Purolator Stupid"
Purolator is the Canadian competitor; might actually be larger than UPS.
