UPS slogan is kinda scary.

I have a friend who we call "Brownie" (because his last name is brown)

I had a good chuckle when I saw that he got a holiday job as a UPS driver. heh.

I think it's fitting, UPS is sh*t.. I had my dj equipment sent via them and they ended up crushing a lot of my stuff and causing all sorts of problems.

Fedex is awesome... my packages don't look like they played football or any various sport that involves beating the piss out of something.

Maybe it was a sh1tty packing job.

UPS is great, I guess they are #1 for other reasons...
Oh yes, sh!tty packing job... that explains why of the 4 dj speakers 3 of them were in semi decent condition and the 4th one was just mutilated.

PSSL.com is a big company, they know how to pack stuff. I guess that's why they don't ship UPS anymore, they ship fedex.

The guys are nice at UPS, but they don't show that respect toward my packages, which really pisses me off.

When I pay close to $500 for shipping, it better damn well come without holes in the packages or damaged products up the wazoo!

I concur. When I worked for a Major Label Guitar Player, we would ship guitars around the country. We know how to pack instruments. UPS ALWAYS fVcked up our shipments. UPS would winge and whine when we would try to collect on the insurance.
We quit using them and went with FedEx. It was more expensive, but we didn't lose anymore guitars.
UPS = UNRELIABLE Parcel Service.
OH and the UPS driver would drive by like a bat out of H3ll and have packages he needed to drop off for us, but because their schedules are so tight, we would have to wait until his "core" pick ups were donewhen he would come back by. Not really cool when you have a recodring studio full of musicians and you're waiting for reels of tape or something imperative.

All shipping companies throw around packages. Nobody respects them. Whether I use Fedex or UPS i always have a bruised up package (usually with a hole in the box).

UPS has delivered numerous stuff to my house, the box looks all beaten up, the styrofoam cracked, the only reason I'm not more pissed is because the product is fine.

Whereas with Fedex... the box is nice and dandy. And I find Fedex faster than UPS. The UPS guy likes to deliver at 6 PM while Fedex delivers at 3 PM. :)

Plus, if you're not home and a signature is required, you can usually head to the FedEx station and pick the package up after 5:00 P.M. that same day. UPS used to allow me to do that a few years ago, but stopped the practice. Now, if I want to pick up a "signature required" package from UPS, I have to call and make arrangements - which means no earlier than the following day. Given those hurdles, it's always easier with UPS to sign their tag and let the delivery person leave it on the step the next day.

I've picked packages up @ the local UPS station the same day they were scheduled to be delivered. I just call 1-800-PICK-UPS and let them know that I won't be home for the signature confirmation and not to attempt a 2nd delivery. I just go pick it up, as late as 8:30pm.
