UPS: Returned to shipper..... Can anybody help here?

So i got a defective laptop from IBM a little over a week and a half ago. Called up Customer Service and they issued an RMA number and called UPS to come pick up the laptop. They came on wednesday with the label and took her off.

I checked the package on friday and it showed delivered in Chapel Hill, NC (where IBM accepts their returns), but i just checked it right now and it shows 'Returned to Shipper'....

Please GOD tell me that means they have it, and didnt sent it back to me. Am i considered the shipper in this instance, or are they, since they paid for it?

All major couriers recycle tracking numbers, but usually not for ~18-30 days. I'd just call CS and as if they received your laptop.

CS dosent open till tomm Already tried to call... Just wanted to see if anyone ran into this before...

I've run into this with Fedex before after 5-10 days, so its not completely out of the ordinary. Just keep an eye on it.

Why worry about it? If IBM refused delivery of the RMA, then they get to send you a new call tag.

I don't believe it's possible for IBM to accept delivery, inspect the package, then return to shipper (you) on the same tracking number.

Maybe they fixed it while the UPS guy stood there and waited for them to sign!

Thats what im assuming. I think by 'Returned to Shipper', it may mean that the Laptop has made it back to where the call tag was originally made....

Well, im hoping. Unfortunately IBM wont send out the replacement until the RMA is squared away, and with law school a little over a week away, i dont have much time to spare.

Just found this, i dunno about that.....

What does Returned to Shipper mean in the status information of my package?
The designation Returned to Shipper in the Status field of the Tracking Summary means that the package was returned to the original shipper. Possible reasons for return include, but are not limited to:

* Package refused by the intended receiver
* Physical address not to be found by UPS
* Unable to deliver after multiple delivery attempts

I will f-king sh!t a brick if it comes back to me.

it is not going to come back to you. It says returnED to shipper, not returning. Meaning that they got the package, and all is well. What else is ups is supposed to put on their site?

Well it said 'Delivered' on friday. Returned to shipper makes it sound like they are sending it back.
