UPS noise

I've just got a new 600 kva UPS. However it makes a terrible squealing noise; really loud and high pitched and piercing.

I've got it in its own cabinet, but the noise is still a problem.

The seller says that this is normal, but it's really annoying.
 
600kva will sound like hell. 600va shouldn't, and most don't even have active cooling at that rating.
