UPS messed up

rh71

No Lifer
origin: CA
destination: NY
method: 3-day select (arrive within 3 business days)

9/2 from CA -->
9/4 9AM Newark NJ --> Rescheduled delivery 9/8 (wtf)
9/4 10AM Philadelphia PA (umm wrong direction)
9/5 original target date as stated on tracking page

I called UPS and they tell me they don't know why it happened, but there's still a chance it can be delivered by tomorrow - if not then I should get a refund. Thing is I ordered from Newegg 8/29 paying for ground and everything else got here yesterday (9/3) since it was shipped from NJ. It's the computer case that comes from CA (which I didn't know at time of order)... so apparently Newegg put it on 3-day select instead of ground (NJ) which was nice of them. Now I gotta wait another weekend because the most important part is still missing.

Did someone load it on the wrong truck by accident?
Does newegg get the refund or would I?

It happens with UPS, they suck. My stuff has been re-routed many times like that before. I even had one package arrive at the facility near me, then sent off NY before returning to MI nearly a week later.

Not sure how UPS operates, but usually everything is transferred to the main hubs and then to the nearest regional hub to your location, are you in NYC or upstate NY?

why would you get the refund? you didnt pay for 3 day shipping. If anything Newegg will get the refund, but I doubt they will push for one. Oh yea, UPS sucks

The packages are sorted by people who memorize zipcodes. People make mistakes. Believe me, when the mis-load a package on a truck, they hear about it from management.

At least it wasnt like my incident where the only explanation for a 2 week late package was "Ground Movement". Wtf is ground movement? Earthquakes?

Errmm...

actually he probably DID pay for the shipping. Just because his account wasn't the account that UPS charged doesn't mean that Newegg didn't pass the fee on.

can you please explain how UPS has messed up again?

umm, it's not obvious?

3-day select means by 3 business days. Let's count... 9/3 would be 1. 9/4 would be 2. 9/5 would be the 3rd. If it doesn't get here by 7pm 9/5, they have failed and said they would refund me.

Not to mention:
1) it is going in the opposite direction - the operator said yes that's definitely not right
2) "delivery rescheduled" is not normal unless they have met Gustav face to face along the way.

BUT, I just checked the site again and now it's back to 9/5. Either my 2 phone calls helped or someone realized their mistake early enough. Yay for a new toy over the weekend.

BTW, I didn't say I was special - that's why it says "again" in the topic summary.

ok you answered my question. I was confused since most UPS sucks threads actually are posted when they do something wrong. You are posting a preemptive UPS sucks when they have actually done nothing wrong yet. Interesting technique

As long as it gets to you on time (which is tomorrow by your own admission) what the hell does it matter what route it takes?

Ugh... UPS has damaged more packages of mine than any other courier by a wide margin.

The worst was my Klipsch RF-3 speakers. Three woofers arrived with dents (thankfully, damage ended up being cosmetic). One tweeter driver snapped off of the horn and I had to glue it back on 🙁.
