UPS is the worst company on earth.
I've had more than one bad experience. Moving forward, if I were you, I would avoid at all costs.

UPS is fine. They delivered my last NewEgg purchase at 8:01 PM! Obviously, you've never dealt with DHL.

a little update.

so I saw a statue update at 6:52pm tonight so called up the facility center (1800# is useless, don't bother, they dont give a sh1t). talked to someone there about the package update, wait a bit, i guessed i talked to the driver who finally brought it in after finding that in the truck

so I told them to hold the package for me there for a pick up TONIGHT! they said it would be at the pick up center waiting for me and they close at 9pm.

I got there 15mins before 9, they had me waited there for 1 hour and told me they couldn't find it. SOL

it was 11pm by the time I got home. thank so much UPS.

I once had a UPS package tracking as "Out for delivery." When the nice man failed to deliver the package, I called their CS and was told (and I am not kidding) "the driver could not find the package on the truck." Don't these people load their own trucks? Anyway, had to go to the customer center to get it.

Actually, esp. in the larger deliver areas, no, the drivers do not load their own trucks. They're loaded before they arrive and the packages are supposed to be laid out so the driver just empties back to front as the route progresses. At least this is what several drivers I've spoken to in a few towns/cities say.

I just let the driver drive away and am giving it another day.

The tracker showed that it got scanned back in at the same facility it left yesterday at about 10pm. Then it shows a departure scan a bit later then an arrival scan at 6am today (left the same facility at 1015pm or so then arrived at that facility at 6am), then a departure scan for delivery. Stuff like this happens. If I get it today no big deal.

Otherwise I will call and destroy them as much as I can over the phone!

I really prefer to have it pick up by myself at this point. I can pick it up in 20mins, the UPS facility is really close to my work.

I also think I found out what culprit was that. The shipper may have screwed up when they did the re-routing instruction. the new address should be another receiver's name I have provided, not my name. of course it didn't get deliver with only my name on it! even if it is out for delivery again today, it may not be able to deliver it.

I have given them instruction to hold the package for pickup for now...

I've had the USPS lose packages, and then they show up months later (after insurance has been collected). I've had UPS mark items as delivered, and then they deliver it the next day.

Hope is not lost.

I have pretty good luck with FedEx and the white vans that they've now started marking with "OnTrack" logos. I get at least two packages a week... piles and piles of crap during the holidays.

I had a UPS driver knock and leave a "signature required" laptop at my door before I gave any clue that I was home (no car in the driveway; tip-toeing until I could see who it was).

In this area it depends on the fedex service you are using, fedex ground is useless here, they had it sitting 4 miles away for 4 days because it wasn't due for delivery yet, even tho it was 1lbs item the size of a book. I saw the fedex truck come in my neighborhood every day that week and finally on the 4th day it was delivered. Fedex 2day service however I usually get in a day.

How on earth could you need a package that bad that you can wait another 2 days for it? Sounds like... you don't need it!

For what it's worth, one more bad experience. I had ordered a $15 processor heat sink and on the day of delivery watched UPS drive past my house without stopping. It stopped at someone else's house. I went to the persons house to find out if they had my package. No one at that house was expecting a package and so they didn't know about my package sitting in some improvised stash hole the UPS man used to conceal my package. The next day my neighbors came to my house and delivered the package to me. They weren't expecting one and they didn't notice it until later.

I learned a lesson that day. It was just $15. But what if it had been considerably more valuable? UPS is inexpensive for a reason. Furthermore, it is simple economics: The cheaper the service the higher the demand. UPS has a lot of volume. Your best bet is to pay more for luxury and demand FedEx. On the other hand, most of the time UPS comes through without a hitch. When in doubt check your moral standing. Remember that bad things happen to bad people. I bought that cheap heat sink because I wanted to put it in a computer build and sell that crap to someone. When my build was delivered to the customer they found the heat sink and processor dangling from the motherboard/cpu power connector.

I ordered it for someone in china, with the chinese new year getting closing, if I don't mail it out by this week, it could get stuck in the custom for extra 2+ more weeks, on top of the 1 week it takes to clear custom!

another update:

finally got my package! whatever it was, it is the past now.

around 2ish pm this afternoon, I received a call from UPS telling me they found my package. I was taking it with a grain of salt after the fiasco last night. at least they knew there was a package missing and a guy waited there for an entire hour the night before.

anyways, he gave me a new control # to write down for the person at the pick up center who will know where the package will be when i come it.

I went there after work, the same person from last night took the control#, went inside and came back in 10 seconds, handed me the package.

called up the merchant and let them know I finally got the package, they cancelled the replacement shipment and re-routing it back to them. too bad, it was already shipped out and i honestly did not expect UPS to find it.

quite a learning experience.

now I come to reflect, the entire could have avoided and if i didn't reoute that, i could have received it friday.
