Needless to say...when we did finally get home the thing was not there with the other box that was delivered. I'm amazed that those small items were even there. Anyone ever have any problems with UPS doing stupid crap like this? I'm so ticked off right now. And now I have to wait on the Egg to go through a claim process with them. How long is that going to take before I get what I paid for?

no it didn't require a signature! that's the stupid thing. And they just left it. Delivery was est. on the 9th. so of course it was a day early and wasn't expected.

I drive around high income neighborhoods all the time snatching carrier packages that were left at people's front door.

That is the reason why I have most things shipped to my office. Failing that, I make arrangements with a friend who is home during the day.

This happens so often, you have to assume anything that is going to be delivered to an unoccupied home during the day is going to be stolen.

OP, sorry you were victim number eleventy zillion.

It's easier to just follow the UPS truck.

I've said this before in other threads, UPS is not liable for packages once they are delivered to the proper address.

If you have high value items coming, or even low value items and you just live in a bad neighborhood, require a signature, tell them you'll pay the extra (it's like 1-3 dollars).

Newegg can claim all they like, but if they track the package back with the driver and it was deliver but stolen, Newegg won't be getting jack back. This isn't to say newegg themselves won't replace the item, but that's a whole different issue.

But serious, installing security cameras is the only way you can deter thieves. Make a sign too so the thieves know.

If it didn't require a signature, what did UPS do wrong?

I had a huge box delivered by UPS and they just rang the doorbell and left. I opened the door with this huge box marked BMW in front of my house waiting for anyone to pick it up. It's a good thing I'm always home, but still...

It was $469.00 and I honestly didn't see any option of having signature confirmation on the order. Otherwise , I would have done it.
JJsole...I would like to think that people actually think about their jobs, and care about their customers to make sure that they are happy. I don't think leaving a box, and probably the factory box for that matter just sitting outside. I've had stuff taken back to the UPS and a note left on my door in the past. That would have been the smart thing to do I would think.
Makes me wonder if I should order that 46" LCD and have it shipped like that.....they may just leave it sitting in the driveway.

UPS drivers are on a tight schedule. If you offered to offload the items yourself, they appreciate it.

Signs are cheaper than actually installing cameras. ;)

That is weird...UPS requires a signature for electronics like computers or LCD TVs.

I always choose to require a signature, and most of the time UPS just drops the package at the door and leaves.
