It's easier to just discretely follow the UPS truck.

It's even easier to just take the truck.

I would love to see that they have a policy like that because right on the tracking page are comments. Delivered - left on porch. ARRRRGGH! this makes me crazy.

I built a highend rig for a buddy last year and ordered the parts from newegg. I came home the day before I expected the deliveries to find $2500 worth of parts in 4 boxes sitting on my front porch:( The monitor was in the OEM box with a beautiful picture sitting in front facing the street. I was very lucky in that nothing was missing, but I was severely pissed none the less.

See! And they just left this sitting. I can't believe that they do stuff like this. You would think that they wouldn't want responsibility for items like this. WTF!!!

Most all carriers now don't require signature unless you specifically take the waiver off record. You now have to OPT-OUT of signature waivers on most carriers (has been like that for a few years now).

How in the world is this UPS losing a package? The delivered the package, they did their job and actually went above and beyond by exceeding expectations of the delivery date.

I've said this before in other threads, UPS is not liable for packages once they are delivered to the proper address.

If you have high value items coming, or even low value items and you just live in a bad neighborhood, require a signature, tell them you'll pay the extra (it's like 1-3 dollars).

Newegg can claim all they like, but if they track the package back with the driver and it was deliver but stolen, Newegg won't be getting jack back. This isn't to say newegg themselves won't replace the item, but that's a whole different issue.

I always choose to require a signature, and most of the time UPS just drops the package at the door and leaves.

get a refund for your shipping then.

or if you could be a lowlife and 'teach them a lesson' and claim you didn't get the merchandise in which case they would be boned because they dropped it off without signed release.

Damn, sorry to hear that. When I worked as a driver helper during the christmas season, people would be sending Dells, PDAs, TVs, and monitors (I think tires also needed a signature) and we'd get annoyed because the person was never home and it required a signature. It could be the sender, then, in this case, perhaps.

I have registered several complaints about this problem, and they still do it. Another favorite is when I log on to check the status of the package and it shows that it was delivered and signed for, then it shows up a day or two later.

The only real question is..."Am I screwed?" This is really frustrating. I've waited a long time to buy something like this for myself , and now I do, and bam. It goes sour. Very depressing here guys.

why would you be screwed ?

Just contact whoever you purchased it from and tell them you did not receive it.
They should send you out another unit and file a claim with UPS.

Its not delivered until it is in the hands of someone at the residence. Simply leaving a package at an address is not delivering a package.

no way you're screwed if you bought with a CC. Just call the CC and say you never got the package, dispute it or whatever. They'll make you fill out a form and sign it and you're good to go. Are you sure it was stolen. UPS has never been early, in fact I think UPS / Fed ex keep your package at the hub until the estimated delivery time then they deliver it. Wait a day and see if it shows up

All electronics like tv's, stereos, computers, etc. the ups drivers are supposed to get signatures for, even if it doesn't require a signature. Unless its a really small item like an MP3 player or something in a plain brown box but if its in a box that shows what the item is then the driver needs a sig. The cost of it will come out of the ups drivers check. Atleast this is what they told us at the training course.

* waits for inevitable "W00t! UPS left package on my door, but I didn't order anything. Check out my new 24" of LCD goodness!" parody thread *

OP, that sucks, and I have no idea if you'll be screwed or not.. but I hope somehow its made right.

Exactly. What's to say a driver won't drive a nice package to his relative's house and say it was delivered to the actual intended recipient?

Yeah I've noticed this with UPS..they just leave the box on the porch and leave whereas Fedex would have you sign, or at least hand you the package. I'm talking about orders from Newegg, before and after their switch.

The Fedex douchebag left a $1500 engagement ring on my doorstep at my apartment complex even though Blue Nile requires signatures with their packages.

This makes no sense. Del est for the 9th, you say it's early today, but it's the 11th. Did you leave it on your porch for 2 days hoping it would get stolen so you can blame UPS????
