or else i may not get my packages? :p

Even though UPS does some weird stuff with their tracking and routing ("derailed train", routing through 5 other states farther away, etc) their packages always get here. I think they just like messing with people

Don't forget to check for the scent of urine when you take receipt of the packages.

Yep, had that happen to me. Box started in California, made it here to Texas, thought I'd get it next day. When I got home, it wasn't here, went online to check tracking, it had gone to New Orleans!! WTF??

Next day it was delivered, after they turned it around and got it back to TX.

Oh, and when I e-mailed them about it, UPS said it got here in the promised 3 to 7 days, so they did what they'd promised to do. :\

I figure, with the incredible amount of packages they handle every day, this is acceptable, as long as it's not happening more than once or twice.

Same thing happened to me. Shipped from Georgia for next day delivery in NC. Next day, no package. It was sitting in Kentucky. At least they did deliver it on Saturday.

Its not like they do that on purpose. The box gets on the wrong conveyer at the hub and therefore gets on the wrong plane, and before anyone knows, its landed in the wrong city and they need to send it back.

exactly. it's called a misload and it happens when you're going through 7500 items in 4 hours.
They aren't doing it on purpose and yes it sucks. We have to go over this every UPS thread

It's no worse than FedEx. The route they take for packages coming from Fresno, CA (the location of one of our main suppliers) to us (2 hours north of Fresno) is by shipping them to Sacramento (2 hours north of us). So they make a 2 hour trip into a 6 hour trip. The packages still get to us overnight, but it's weird.

It has to do with hub locations. If their nearest hub to you is in another state, they'll ship it to there first. State boundaries don't really mean much...particularly on the east coast where your states are so puny.
