You know you can just call the place, have them hold your package at will call and you can pick it up at like 9AM, right?
If I know I'm going to be expecting something and I've got stuff to do - thats what I do./

There is a tremendous amount of commerce involved in residential delivery of packages, but UPS takes care of its business to business customers first. What this means is that the driver has his daily scheduled stops at businesses on his route, then he takes care of his residential stops. This can vary, but generally drivers are more likely to have a residential customer physically receive a package after 4 pm.
FedEx seems to route their deliveries differently, and in my experience I receive FedEx deliveries in the morning, and UPS after 6 pm.
