UPS Exception, wtf does this mean?

I've never seen this before, am I in for a long wait? Should I call the retailer and have them send out a new package? I kind of need it before Christmas.

The delivery driver probably peed on someones lawn, the owner got back by pouring spoiled milk into the truck, then the driver swerved on the highway after realizing there was milk in his truck and drove off a cliff.

You should probably get a new package

I've seen it before and can't remember which of the many UPS fuck-ups I have suffered it is associated with, but it isn't good news.

They usually mean they had some sort of screw-up and that your package will come later than normal. What was the estimated delivery date? Within 5 days of Christmas, you should be fine.

I've seen that a couple times, and for me it meant UPS went to the wrong address or couldn't find it (my business address is in the middle of nowhere, and I think there's another road that shares the same name, but doesn't have the correct number).

Had this problem. For me, they sent my package to the wrong UPS facility and needed to redirect it to the right one. Took an extra day for delivery.

Hmm, guess I'll just wait it out then. It went to an exception status within 12 hours so it has to be some kind of problem at their warehouse, although I can't imagine what.

Last time that occurred a package went to thailand, then madrid before I got it, several weeks later. The original sender was only 33 miles away from me 🙁

Dear mb,

Thank you for your email. We experienced excessive shipping volume in ONTARIO HUB,CA. At UPS we take great pride in projecting shipping volume and taking measures to add additional capacity to handle the huge increases we see each year during the holiday season. However, on occasion, shippers tender more packages in a given area on a given day than we can process in the short time spans we have to provide our normal quick and efficient service.

I apologize for any inconvenience this shipment has caused. Your package may be delayed from an on time delivery but it may still be delivered as scheduled.

Your business is important to us, so we will continue to strive to deliver every package on schedule, even during our peak season.

Please contact us if you need any additional assistance.

Hell, comparing your tracking info to mine, I'd wager that your order is from monoprice too. Almost exactly the same times on the first day, and the exact same times on the second day.

Thanks for posting that, they never bothered to send me an e-mail saying they were backed up. I actually ordered from FSP but they must be pretty close to each other.

It was the same thing with the mwave order for me, seems like most UPS places are overloaded ATM

I'm much more special than you guys. I mailed a package this week and saw the exception note. UPS issues one whenever they recalculate the delivery date. In my case, because I'm wonderful (not, I repeat not, because the package was a return to Amazon, their best corporate customer) UPS moved the delivery date up by three days and delivered early.

god UPS sucks

my uncle sent me something on a Monday.

On a Friday I checked tracking status and the package was in town but it said "exception we cannot process the address" etc etc

I called to re-confirm the address and Saturday delivery. They said no-can-do. I was leaving town so I asked for delivery to my office address. They said OK it'll get there Tuesday. (4 days for in-town???)

When I got back Friday, I checked tracking again and it still hasnt delivered. I called and asked why - they said someone scanned the package and realized it weighted more than they thought, and they had to hold the package to re-calculate correct charge. (WTF!??!??)

Again I HAVE to leave the country the next day, so I said HOLD THE PACKAGE AT YOUR OFFICE I WILL PICK IT UP TONIGHT. They said OK. Right before I left my office... package arrived. Had I left work 5 minutes earlier I wouldve been fucked.

goddamn les incompetents
