They said they changed their rules last month and that they no longer hold packages for 5 days after the third attempt. They return them.

WTF?!?

Now I'm never going to use them.

so if you KNOW you are going to be at work during delivery hours...
HAVE THE PACKAGE DELIVERED TO YOUR WORK!!!!!

amateurs...GAH

Not everyone works somewhere where you can have your personal packages delivered. I can't have my mail delivered at work, and I'm never at home at a time when ups delivers. So basically, for all intents and purposes, I can not use UPS anymore. Oh well, FedEX is better anyway.

The leasing office accepts packages and I left a note on the door to deliver to the leasing office, but no dice, fucker just stuck another "attempted delivery" sticker up next to my note.

Cost me an hour round trip to get to their sorting facility, and the retailer had sent the wrong thing anyway. I wasn't a happy camper that day.

This was FedEx.

Be careful about having packages delivered to a leasing office. The leasing office in all likelihood will take NO responsibility if they give the package to the wrong person, as happened to me in a large apartment complex. I wound up suing the management company in small claims court because they were pricks. I lost, but they counterclaimed for unpaid rent (we moved out and broke the lease over other issues) which they lost so it was a draw. :D

You're surprised that they sent the package back to sender after three tries? What were you expecting? They can't keep trying to deliver your package forever.

Now that you have decided to not use them ever again I see bad things in UPS's future. You were their entire business ...

They don't have to keep delivering "forever", just notify the recipient that the package is there and hold it for them.

No, losing 1 customer doesn't mean anything, but it's not just going to be one customer. I for one will also not be able to use UPS again, so make that 2 customers. Now we're talkin'! ;)

How long are they supposed to hold it for them? how much room do they need to allocate at the distribution center for these people that cannot plan ahead?

Have it shipped to nearby friend/relative? if this is for products you buy on the internet, you can have their address added to your credit card account so they don't kick it back for a suspicious mailing address.

I have a waiver on file with FedEx so everything gets delivered while I'm gone.

UPS would rather drive around all day and deliver stickers that don't have enough adhesive to stay in place.

Doesn't always work that way. My old job had a policy against having personal packages delivered to the workplace.

Don't think so, I'm not going to have everything I buy on the internet shipped to someone else's house to have to go bug them to pick things up etc, that's fine for a one time thing, but not all the time. No big issue though, just use FedEx, problem solved.

I just go online and change the delivery address to my office when I get a UPS notice on my door at home. I have also changed it to my Mom's apartment since she is usually there.

Worked every time so far.

Maybe you should ship that shit to your work or to some friend you know who is home during the day?

Some people have this thing during the day called work.

And most have jobs that you'd can have a package shipped too.

I tend to agree with UPS on this, you wasted 3 of their trips knowing you'd not be there...then expect them to store your crap for free.

It's people like this that make it more and more complicated to get shipments sent easily.

Maybe your UPS location is different than mine but this stinks of massive fail to me. When UPS attempts to deliver and you aren't home, they leave a slip. You can then call UPS that same day, given them the info # on the slip, and request that they hold the package. You then go pick it up. There is no need to wait for 3 delivery attempts. Why are you doing this now? To be honest, I am surprised they even held it for 5 days after that in the past. Granted, sometimes they don't leave a slip or it flies away, but if they aren't leaving a slip on any of the 3 attempts then you need to visit the ups office and complain.

There are people who simply can not receive packages via UPS now because they can't be there for the delivery and can't pick up the item at the office. That hardly seems to make sense to me.

i heard an ad on the radio for a chain company that is like "mailbox plus" or something. they give you a real address to ship to instead of a PO box, sign for packages and hold them until you come in to get it. they also will email/ text you when the package arrives. im betting there are these places all over the place too.

Its like me leaving my cell phone at home and getting all pissed off at t-mobile because I missed a call. I'm never using them again!

Oh, my phone was out of batteries, T-mobile should have known and routed it to the 7-11 phone that I was buying a slurpy at. I'll never use T-mobile again!

It's both. You just have to call them and tell them to hold it. It's not rocket science.
